The Millennium Fashion Stakes

The end of the millennium might not be good news for computers but the New Zealand fashion industry is looking forward to a sales boost as New Year’s Eve invitations send party-goers in search of glamorous new outfits.

And Auckland-based Cassa Clothing is ready to ensure New Zealand women welcome the new year in style.

Cassa’s managing director, Tim Hardley, says the emphasis on large-scale New Year’s Eve parties is expected to provide a stimulus for the fashion industry.  Cassa Clothing has been manufacturing women’s clothing since 1982 and manufactures a wide range of women’s clothing, from leisure and sportswear to designer evening wear.

Cassa Clothing has been a client of Scottish Pacific Business Finance for seven years and uses both domestic and export factoring facilities.

Tim Hardley says cashflow finance has improved the financial predictability of the business. “The apparel industry is a very seasonal industry and clothing companies find that their financial needs and cash flow go up and down through the year, so cashflow management is very important.”

Having established itself as one of New Zealand’s leading fashion manufacturers, Cassa Clothing is now broadening its business horizons to tackle the Australian market.

“Australia is shaping up as an important source of future growth for New Zealand manufacturers, including companies in the apparel industry,” said Tim.  “Exporting can be difficult because of the problems with overseas collections, but we’re using Scottish Pacific’s Australian operations and their export factoring service as well,” said Tim.
